Youssef Ouhrig, a 6’0” point guard from the Champlain College Saint-Lambert Cavaliers, has committed to the University of Alberta Golden Bears’ basketball team.

Ouhrig, a playmaking point guard, was the Cavaliers MVP last season. He led the CEGEP league (Collège d'enseignement général et professionnel) in assists, and finished second in steals, 10th in scoring, and seventh in rebounding. In his three years with the Cavaliers, he averaged 15pts, seven rebounds and five assists per game.

He joins a Golden Bears’ basketball program that will defend their Canada West title in the 2012-13 season, and will attempt to return to the CIS championship game. He’ll also look to get into a starting role, taking over for the departed shooting guard Daniel Ferguson, and under the direction of new head coach Barnaby Craddock.
